Project Aims

  • To support the development of the pre and post evaluation questionnaire for a telephone and intercept survey to evaluate the implementation of the Safe Sex No Regrets Social Marketing Campaign being undertaken by the Western Australian AIDS Council.
  • To conduct basic analysis of the data including pre/post test results and comparing relevant demographic groups within the sample.
  • To provide a report of the analysis based on the previous analysis report for 2008.

Project Overview

The Safe Sex No Regrets Social Marketing project sought to reduce the risk of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) transmission through promoting the use of condoms amongst sexually active young people (heterosexual people under the 30 years of age and homosexually active men 45 years of age). The television, print and venue based campaign aimed to promote and normalise safe sexual practice among target audiences and increase knowledge among target audiences of HIV and STI prevention, early testing, detection and treatment. The evaluation consisted of repeated cross sectional random telephone and venue based surveys at selected night clubs to assess campaign reach as well as gauge awareness and behaviour related to safe sex practices, STI transmission and testing and condom use during 2008 and 2009.
